STRONG SHOWING EVAPORATES WITH CONTACT SENDING GALE INTO WALL

No. 33 Rheem Scores 26th at Newton, IA. Short Track

33 Truck> Cale Gale and the No. 33 Rheem team scored a 26th-place finish after a late-race accident sent Gale to the infield care center and his Rheem Chevrolet to the garage with just 17 laps to go at Iowa Speedway. Gale had a fast truck all weekend recording the seventh-fastest overall practice speed and the sixth-quickest qualifying lap. After falling to the 12th position at lap 140, Gale picked up five positions in just 40 laps and looked poised to continue moving forward. Tight racing following a restart resulted in Gale making contact with another competitor and ultimately getting turned into the outside wall on lap 182.

The Rheem Chevrolet seemed a bit tight off the initial start of the American Ethanol 200 at Iowa Speedway on Saturday night, but dialed itself in as the laps progressed and the tires built up pressure. As the field began to spread out, it became increasingly clear that track position would play a key role in the 200-lap race and the Rheem team began discussing their pit strategy for the night.

Gale visited pit road for the first time of the night during the lap 51 caution period. The team made a slight air pressure adjustment and sent Gale back out on the track. Very pleased with the handling of his truck during the next run, the Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender was able to work through traffic and pick up positions on the 0.875-mile track. The caution flag was displayed again on lap 136 just as Gale began nearing the end of his fuel window. The driver of the Rheem Chevrolet visited pit road one last time for four sticker tires and restarted the race in the 12th position.

With the handling of his truck dialed in, Gale was able to pick up five positions in just 40 laps to race in the seventh position. Coming off a restart on lap 179, the entire field was bunched up and racing hard for positions. Gale was in the outside line racing side-by-side when a third truck took it three-wide in turn one on lap 182. Contact was made between Gale and the truck in the middle groove, but Gale was able to save it and drove the Rheem Chevrolet down the backstretch. By the time they made it to turn three, additional contact was made as Gale got hit in the left rear fender and was sent into the outside retaining wall in the middle of turns three and four. With hard contact, the Rheem Chevrolet came to a stop with the driver's side wedged against the outside retaining wall and Gale carefully climbed out the "passenger's side" window.

Gale was taken to the infield care center for the mandatory evaluation and was released just a few minutes later. With only 10 laps remaining the Rheem team couldn't make repairs to get the Silverado back on the track. As a result, the No. 33 Rheem team was credited with a 26th-place finish in the American Ethanol 200 at Iowa Speedway.

"We had a great Rheem Chevrolet at Iowa Speedway," commented Gale. "It was definitely one of the best trucks, if not the very best truck, that we've had all season. Coming into the race, we were very confident that we'd be able to have a strong run in the Rheem Chevrolet. We were good all weekend in practice and qualifying, and were able to race inside the top 10. I definitely didn't want to end the night with an ambulance ride, but sometimes that's racing. Fortunately we'll be in Chicago next weekend, so we'll look to rebound with another strong run there."

GALE SIXTH IN FINAL PRACTICE

N0. 33 Rheem 19th in First Practice at Newton, IA. Short Track

> There were no incidents involving the No. 6 or 33 entries during either practice session.

Cale Gale and the No. 33 Rheem team were extremely happy with their Chevrolet during the final practice session at Iowa Speedway. The team tried a different shock package early in the session that Gale preferred over the setup they were using during yesterday's practice. Once they hit on that, the Rheem team taped up their truck and cooled down the motor to make a mock qualifying run. Comfortable and happy with how the Rheem Chevrolet was handling, Gale parked his truck 20 minutes before the session ended.

Cale Gale, No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet: "We have a very strong Rheem Chevrolet for the race tonight at Iowa Speedway. I feel like I have a pretty good feel for the track and the best line to run, and our Chevrolet is extremely fast."

Cale Gale and the No. 33 Rheem team were very pleased with their Chevrolet throughout the opening practice session at Iowa Speedway. The Rheem Chevrolet unloaded fast with Gale posting speeds inside the top 10 throughout most of the session. Gale and the Rheem team spent this evening's session focusing on race trim and logging laps while track conditions were closer to what they will experience in tomorrow's American Ethanol 200. By the end of the 80-minute session, Gale had logged 42 laps in the Rheem Chevrolet. Meanwhile, several other teams made mock qualifying runs near the end of the practice session allowing them to surpass Gale's fastest lap on the time charts.

No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet Silverado News and Notes

> Racing in America's Heartland... Cale Gale will make his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) start at Iowa Speedway this weekend in the American Ethanol 200. Gale, who grew up racing on short tracks, has had Iowa's race date circled on his calendar all season looking forward to the event on the 0.875-mile track. The Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender competed in the ARCA Racing Series race at the Newton, Iowa facility in 2011, when he both started and finished the 200-lap event in the second position.

> Top-Five Finish at the World Crown... Gale and the No. 83 Rheem team brought home a fifth-place finish for Gale Force Racing in the World Crown 300 at Gresham (Ga.) Motorsports Park on the Fourth of July. Gale surrendered his 13th-place starting position as the result of a penalty and rolled off in the back of the field. The 27-year-old worked hard to keep his No. 83 Rheem Chevrolet on the lead lap throughout the opening two segments to transfer into the third and final segment of the 300-lap event. By the end of the first segment Gale was scored in the sixth position and he started the third segment in fifth place. Without air conditioning most of the night, Gale endured tough driving conditions to be in position to compete for the win. After racing inside the top-three, Gale spun his Rheem Chevrolet with just 14 laps remaining when two other competitors spun on the track leaving Gale no way to advance his position. The driver came down pit road for an air pressure adjustment and returned to the track to battle for the finish. By the conclusion of the 29th annual World Crown 300, Gale was scored in the fifth position.

> Meet Cale Gale... Gale will make appearances at the Chevy Stage and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series autograph session this weekend to meet fans. Come out to the NCWTS autograph session on Saturday afternoon at 2:15 p.m. Cale Gale will join Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR) teammate Justin Lofton and other NCWTS drivers to sign autographs for fans at the hour-long session. Gale and Lofton will then go to the Chevy Stage to answer fans' questions during a brief question & answer session from 3:15 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.

> ESR on NCWTS Setup... On this weeks' episode of NCWTS Setup from Iowa Speedway Ray Dunlap sits down with Eddie Sharp, Justin Lofton and Cale Gale to tell fans the story of Eddie Sharp Racing. Lofton talks about winning the 2009 ARCA Racing Series championship with ESR and coming back to join Sharp in the Truck Series. Gale tells the story of how he teamed up with Sharp this season to make a bid at the Rookie of the Year title. Be sure to set your DVR!

> Race for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year... Gale continues to hold his ground ranking second in the Sunoco Rookie of the Year rankings. Currently trailing leader Ty Dillon, Gale has been named the "Sunoco Rookie of the Race" in one event this year.

From the Driver's Seat: Cale Gale Quotes...

On what makes Iowa Speedway unique: "I really enjoy racing at Iowa Speedway-in some ways it drives a little bit like a short track, but it definitely isn't your typical short track. It's a 7/8-mile speedway-it's small enough where you use quite a bit of brake, but it still carries a lot of momentum in the corners. It's what a lot of people call a momentum short track-like a big Richmond. There are usually two grooves of racing there, so expect to see some side-by-side racing. It's a little rough in turns one and two, but it's a really fun track. I'm really looking forward to racing there this weekend with the Rheem Chevrolet."

From the Pit Box: Crew Chief Jerry Baxter Quotes...

Looking forward to Iowa Speedway with the No. 33 Rheem team: "The whole Rheem team is really looking forward to this weekend's race at Iowa Speedway. We're taking the same Chevrolet that we raced at Martinsville Speedway earlier this season. We had a really strong run during that race weekend, and we're looking for another one this coming weekend. We took the Rheem Chevrolet to the seven-post last week to prepare for this weekend's race. It's somewhat bumpy in turns one and two, but you need as much forward bite as you can get off the corners. In my opinion, Iowa Speedway is one of the coolest places that we go to race. My team has always run well there in the past and the whole Rheem team has a lot of confidence that we'll have a strong run with Cale this weekend-we're ready to go."
