POCONO RACEWAY RACE UPDATE
JUSTIN LOFTON SECOND AT POCONO IN ANOTHER THRILLER!

"We had a good day," said Lofton, who led the first 14 laps. "ESR prepares cars equally as good as anything on the Cup side, so I can't complain. It's getting a little frustrating running second everywhere, but we're building a pretty good point lead, so that's good."

LONG POND, PA (June 6, 2009)--Eddie Sharp Racing's Justin Lofton scored his sixth top-5 finish in seven races today at Pocono Raceway. His teammates Craig Goess, Steve Arpin and Tim George Jr. finished 9th, 14th and 19th respectively

JUSTIN LOFTON
Second-place finishes are starting to get old for 23-year-old ARCA RE/MAX Series standout, Justin Lofton. In the last three consecutive series races, Lofton has come up short for a trip to victory lane. Nonetheless, Lofton graciously accepted the bridesmaid laurels once again as he furthered his quest for the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Championship.

"We had a really good car today," said Lofton, who now leads the standings by 110 points, "we struggled a bit in turn one most of the day, and that was the difference between winning and finishing second. But overall it was a good day for us; we'll take this finish and head to Michigan."

With rain canceling yesterday's practice and qualifying, the field was set by the point standings putting Lofton on the pole for the start. During the final practice this morning, the Eddie Sharp Racing team discovered an issue with the motor and was forced to change it. Since there was no official qualifying, the #6 Lofton Cattle Toyota was allowed to maintain the starting position.

"We kind of dodged a bullet during practice," said Crew Chief, Mark Rette, "catching the problem and changing the motor really saved the day for us. Our guys did an amazing job of changing the motor and getting our Toyota ready to race. So, second really isn't all that bad."

Team Owner, Eddie Sharp was also pleased with the results.

"Today proved again that this team is in championship form. I'm really happy with how the season is progressing for the #6 team and I'm proud of all these guys."

TIM GEORGE, Jr.
ARCA Driver, Tim George Jr, displaying a new RubyTueGo paint scheme, on his No. 2 Ruby Tuesday, Eddie Sharp Toyota, struggled to find the speed needed to run in the top 5 at Pocono Speedway.

With Friday ARCA practice and qualifying being cancelled due to rain all day, there wasn’t much time for the ARCA field to get valuable time on the 2.5 mile Pocono track, and George Jr is among the many ARCA Rookies that needed the track time at Pocono, as he has never run the car.

"Very fast track. It really requires a good [car] set up, unfortunately we didn’t really have that. ...(still) I learned a lot.”

"I’m looking forward to coming back. I just wish we had an extra hour on the track. I would have felt more confident. I just felt loose all day. I needed to be able to get on the power sooner, and I wasn’t able to, causing me to be slower. I wish that I would have finished better."

"I’m glad to have our new Sponsor Chrome Hearts on the car this week…and we were able to promote RubyTueGo, for our Primary Sponsor, Ruby Tuesday. I’m looking forward to racing in Michigan next week."

"Despite blowing a tire and running with a broken left-front shock, a top ten finish isn't terrible at all. I think we all felt like we had a better car before that all happened, but that's racing." -Goess

CRAIG GOESS, Jr.
ARCA RE/MAX rookie driver Craig Goess had never been on the track at Pocono before this weekend, so the washed out practice and qualifying sessions on Friday were disappointing for he and the No.81 car team. When the weather cleared on Saturday, the short, rescheduled practice was all the orientation Goess & Co. would get and the team used the 55-minute session sort out the car and give Craig a chance to get comfortable with the track.

Following practice, the team made some changes on the car and when the green flag dropped for the start, Goess found the No.81 much more drivable and was moving forward through the field running consistent top-5 lap times.

Speed

On lap 34 the 81 pitted under caution and put on 4 tires and fuel, when the race restarted Craig noticed the car was much tighter. From pit road, Crew Chief Patrick Donahue noticed that the nose of the car was much higher then it normal runs so the team knew they had some sort of problem, but they wouldn't learn the nature of it until after the race. In spite of the problem, Goess managed to continue running in the top 10. Then, on lap 57, the yellow came out and as it did, the 81 blew a left-front tire. Still, Goess' luck held out and the incident caused no damage.

Back on track but starting from the rear, Goess drove back up to the top 10 with a now loose race car. When the final yellow flew with 10 laps to go, the team replaced all 4 tires and made a chassis adjustment to tighten the car up for the last few laps. Craig restarted 12th and with 5 laps to go he fought his way back up to finish 9th.

After the race the team found that the left front shock had failed.

"Despite blowing a tire and running with a broken left-front shock, a top ten finish isn't terrible at all. I think we all felt like we had a better car before that all happened, but thats racing. We're looking forward to going to Michigan this week hoping things will go our way.

STEVE ARPIN
Starting from the 5th row - a position determined by ARCA Series Owner's Points after Menards Pole Qualifying was cancelled on Friday due to rain, Canadian Steve Arpin finished the day close to where he began -in 11th.

"We were moderately happy with our first visit to Pocono.", said Arpin. "We had a strong car in practice when we had the whole race track to use."

Unfortunately, Steve struggled through the race with a very loose car on entry, and the No.20 sufferred in traffic.

"We were very line sensitive and had to really give and take to make sure we kept the fenders on the car. The worst part was that there was just too much give and not enough take!"

"I learned a lot and we also learned a lot as a team. We really narrowed in on the direction we have to go and what has been taunting us setup wise many times so far this year. I am very optimistic heading to MIS, especially after a strong test there a few weeks back. I am very confident that you can look for our first top 5 with our Jeff Taylor Motorsports Toyota this weekend."

All ESR teams are excited to move on to the next events as the ARCA RE/MAX Series heads to the Irish Hills of Michigan for the Racing for Wildlife 200 at the Michigan International Speedway on Friday, June 12th, where Lofton got his first series win. The race will be broadcast live on SPEED at 5:00 ET.

POCONO RACEWAY PRACTICE
Lofton Second in Practice. Starts Race from Pole.

Teammates Arpin -7th; Goess -14th; George -24th in rescheduled practice.

LONG POND, PA (June 6, 2009)-- 37 ARCA RE/MAX Series drivers participated in a resceduled practice session at Pocono Raceway on Saturday morning after all ARCA on-track events were canceled due to rain yesterday.

Eddie Sharp Racing's Justin Lofton was second quickest but developed an oil leak late during the practice session. His team is currently in the garage area making an engine change before this afternoon's race.

The practice session marked the first on-track activities at Pocono Raceway this weekend as heavy rain showers washed out practice and Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell on Friday. Track Officials utilized ten jet dryers to prepare the 2.5-mile racing surface for today's on-track activities.

You're family is sponsoring your car?

LOFTON: "Yes, actually this weekend we have a couple race deal there, CGS Imaging came on board, they're going to put a new wrap on the car. Got a new look this weekend and next weekend at Michigan. We're really excited about that. Our primary sponsor is Lofton Cattle out of Westmoreland, CA."

I understand you're not a Sprint Cup development series driver, yet you are first in points?

LOFTON: "Yes, I don't have actually any ties with any Sprint Cup teams or any of the larger teams at the moment. I'm working on it but it definitely hasn't hindered my career at all, it actually leaves my doors open and keeps my options going. I'm not really looking to be so much a development driver so long as someone picks me up, I can get in a car and they can expect results out of me."

POCONO RACEWAY UPDATE II

Practice Rescheduled for 9 am Saturday

LONG POND, PA (June 5, 2009)--Friday's ARCA RE/MAX Series Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell at Pocono Raceway, scheduled for 1:45 p.m., has been cancelled. The starting grid for Saturday's Pocono ARCA 200 has been set based on current car owner points, marking the third consecutive event whereby the field was set by points due to rain. This puts Justin Lofton inside row one for Saturday's race with Matt Merrell starting outside row one. Three-time Pocono winner Frank Kimmel will start inside row two alongside NASCAR Sprint Cup Series regular Joey Logano.

Track and Series officials had been hopeful that ARCA RE/MAX Series race teams would be able to practice at the 2.5-mile triangle later today, pending the cooperation of Mother Nature. However, rain showers have plagued Long Pond, Pennsylvania and the surrounding area for much of the day. Today's Friday's ARCA RE/MAX Series practice session has been rescheduled for Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

ESR'S Tim George, Patrick Donahue featured guests on Inside ARCA program

TOLEDO, OH (June 3, 2009) - ESR's Tim George, Jr., who drives the Ruby Tuesday Toyota, was featured on Inside ARCA today. Although George has never raced at Pocono, the New York, NY driver comes from a road racing background. Considering the fact that Pocono features three very different corners with different radiuses and bankings, many feel that the track more closely resembles a road course rather than a circular superspeedway. George, after six events in 2009, is currently 8th in ARCA RE/MAX Series driver points.

Cometic Crew Chief of the Year Patrick Donahue joined the program at the bottom of the hour (3:30) to discuss his views on Pocono. Donahue currently crew chiefs for rookie Craig Goess out of the Eddie Sharp Racing stables. Donahue won the ARCA race as crew chief for Michael McDowell in 2007 and finished second in both races in 2008 with Scott Speed at the helm. Speed was also on the pole for both events last year.

"Inside ARCA" airs live at ARCAracing.com each Wednesday afternoon from 3:00 to 4:00 PM ET, and re-airs every Wednesday night at 8:00 PM ET.
