GOESS FINISHES STRONG AT SOUTHERN NATIONAL RACEWAY PARK
LATE MODEL STOCK CAR DEBUT A SUCCESS
Kenly, NC (March 17, 2008) - Sunday afternoon, while many NASCAR Camping World East racers were sitting on their couch watching the NASCAR Sprint Cup stars race at Bristol Motor Speedway (TN), Craig Goess was getting some seat time in a Late Model Stock Car at Southern National Raceway Park (NC). Goess and Eddie Sharp Racing got together with Charlie Daniels Racing to race their #03 machine in the twin 50-lap races. Goess went out and did what he needed to by logging laps and finishing strong both events.

The races was originally scheduled for Saturday, but after getting practice in the day before, rain showers moved into the area, delaying the start of the races until Sunday.
“We were at the track almost three days because we got rained out Saturday,” said Goess. “In the first race I was trying to get a feel for the car. The weather changed quite a bit on us from practice Friday night. The conditions were quite a bit different Sunday. The sun was out, but it was cooler. We were trying to see what the car was doing and see if there was anything we needed to change for the second race.”
After finishing 13th and on the lead lap in his first ever Late Model Stock race, Goess went out and finished 11th in the second race.
“It was a little more comfortable in the second race,” explained Goess. “We ran 50 green-flag laps, so we didn’t have any cautions. The leader was the only one that got by some cars, including us, with about four laps to go. He was just in a different time zone from where we all were at.”

After both races were completed, Goess was satisfied with his first weekend behind the wheel of a full-sized race car in race conditions as well as the teamwork shown from the Charlie Daniels Racing team.
“Everybody at Charlie Daniels Racing did a lot of work on the car. They put forth a great effort and it seemed like we worked well together. They are a great group of people to work with.
“It was a no pressure situation as we were just trying to get in some laps. We wanted to finish the race and not mess the car up. The car ran well and we put it in the trailer on all four tires. I think the weekend was a success.”
The first race for Craig Goess and the #2 Greenville Toyota / ESR Development Toyota Eddie Sharp Racing team in the 2008 NASCAR Camping World East Series takes place April 19th at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Greenville, South Carolina.
